Our Sister City of Maibach Germany

Maibach, Germany became the official sister city of Lebanon, Wisconsin in 1996. A small burg north of Frankfurt, Maibach is known best for its community chorus and endodontic specialists.

The Maibach choir performed for Lebanon residents and local church-goers in 1996. The Lebanon band returned the favor in 1998 with its own trip to Maibach and concert series.

The official sister city seal was developed in 2000 to commemorate the ongoing civic relationship between Maibach and Lebanon.

Every other year a delegation crosses the ocean in honor of the sister-community relationship. The Maibach Liederperle Chor (Maibach Liederperle Choir) sang to a standing-room only crowd at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lebanon during the choir's 1996 maiden voyage to Wisconsin in honor of Lebanon's Sesquicentennial Celebration.

The Lebanon Band traveled to Maibach in 1998 where they were the guest of honor at Maibach's "Kirmes" Music Festival. This was the first time many of these American-born German descendants had set foot on the soil of their forefathers' Motherland.

In July 2000, a group of 23 from Maibach visited Lebanon during the annual Lebanon Fireman's Picnic. Members of the Maibach Fire Department invited Lebanon firefighters and their families to return in 2002 to help celebrate the Maibach Fire Department's 50th Anniversary.

39 Lebanites, shown here in front of Butzbach Town Hall, traveled to Maibach in 2002. The group flew into Munich and toured southern Germany before returning to Maibach in time for the Maibach Fire Dept.'s 50th Anniversary Celebration. After touring Maibach, the group visited Berlin and Poland.

Lebanon invited Maibach to return to Lebanon in 2004, and Maibach invited Lebanon to return to Germany in 2007. Butzbach will be hosting the Hessenland Festival, a huge honor in Germany.
